Betsey, Betsey, Betsey

Because I even bore myself with the hatred for Ungaro….I will tell you about another collection that made gave me a headache.  Season after season I keep looking out for Betsey Johnson’s collections because I totally dig her whacky personality, over the top manifesto, and the cartwheels at the end of the shows down the runways. She was married John Cale from the Velvet Underground used to hang with Andy Warhol’s underground scene, and is undoubtedly hip and stylish. That being said, season after season, I am continually disappointed and left wondering if it’s the name Betsey Johnson that sells the clothes or if anyone actually likes the garments? I want to like her and I respect her as a designer, but I guess it’s just not my taste. Don’t even get me started on the accessories…I think her collection was actually my least favorite, I think it was even worse than Cynthia Steefe and Ungaro, of course. She’s known as a ‘downtown’ designer and this collection was definitely a little more sophisticated than usual, but even in the new direction brand is taking still just isn’t doing it for me.
