Spiritual Experience

Once in while beautiful things can create religious-like experiences even for the most agnostic of individuals. This song did this for me.

New Decadedation

We are all connected in this world, all part of a larger unit. In the coming year I aspire to reflect on events and feelings past and live in the present. Because my interests are connected to the realm of fashion photography, this week I will be posting my top ten favorite editorials from the past decade. It is interesting to see how much or how little fashion has evolved over the past decade. I hope this year everyone finds new inspiration every single day. Happy New Year!

The Provoke Era

Recently I went to the MOMA and had sadly missed the window to see the Richard Avedon exhibit, which is kind of ridiculous considering it was on display for like six months, anyways I had to settle for the Japanese post war exhibit. The exhibit was named after the magazine Provoke, which sought to break the rules of traditional photography, this exhibition traces how Japanese photographers responded to their country’s shifting social and political atmosphere. The exhibit showed photography from Masahisa Fukase, Eikoh Hosoe, Daido Moriyama, and Shomei Tomatsu, among many others. I wasn’t that excited about it at first, but moving from that exhibit into some English and American Photography, all the photography was actually very good. The Japanese exhibit had a lot of great large scale prints. The only thing I thought was disappointing by was the images they chose to show for Zhang Huan, this summer they had some way more interesting work by him in the Modern Abstract exhibit on the fifth floor.
